Many of my clients say that they’re throwing money at online advertising platforms hoping they’ll work, but they end up burning through their marketing budget so fast, all for zero sales.
No one should feel like their business is flatlining. I’ve helped hundreds of clients get back their peace of mind, set up their business for the future, and helped them attract dozens of quality leads.
So, here are 5 marketing mistakes I’ve seen clients make in their business, and how you can avoid doing the same.
Mistake #1: Not Marketing At All
Like you, I am troubled by the people who profess to be “marketing gurus” on LinkedIn. It’s difficult to find someone you trust to help you get results for your marketing, so you don’t end up marketing at all.
I’ve trusted the wrong people and learned hard business lessons too, but if you are not marketing because you don’t think you need to, I’m here to tell you this is a sure-fire way to set yourself up to fail. You need to market your business the right way, using the platforms your audience is on.
Make sure you invest in marketing with someone you can trust, so you can outshine your competition with dozens of quality prospects. Your business will conquer the internet and get better (and cheaper) leads more often.
Mistake #2: Not Marketing (Effectively) on Facebook
With over 1.3 billion daily users, Facebook is undoubtedly the biggest platform to reach your audience. Marketing platforms come along and they are underpriced so you need to jump on them and squeeze them for as long as you can. This is true of Facebook Messenger ads right now.
If you are not a practitioner of making content and running Facebook Messenger Ads, then you are MISSING OUT.
People don’t know how to use Messenger ads and they are still so underpriced. The marketplace is underpriced. And this is the perfect time for you to use this platform.
The big money (from corporations) is not in Facebook because big companies are NOT putting money there, so you can dominate this platform.
Using Messenger ads, you can reach the right audience and create a compelling offer that they will love 24/7, for as little as $2 per lead.

Mistake #3: Ignoring Other Platforms
Embrace the 80/20 rule. Do 80% of marketing where you currently spend your time, then spend the other 20% on a new platform.
For example, spend 80% of your time marketing on Instagram because that’s where you are currently seeing results, then 20% of the time testing other platforms like LinkedIn, Snapchat or YouTube.
You don’t need to be on every platform. You just need to be on the platforms where your audience is.
Mistake #4: Not Becoming an Early Adopter
If you’re slow to adopt new platforms, you’re going to be left behind.
Let’s take Facebook Messenger as an example.
In fact, 99% of all businesses are not on Facebook Messenger right now, meaning you can own this platform while it’s still drastically underpriced so you can achieve a massive upswing in revenue.
In fact, here are some impressive stats from Facebook’s Messenger Playbook 2020 about how people use Messenger:
- Over 81% of people message businesses to ask about products or services
- Over 71% of people message businesses to make a purchase
- Over 75% of people message businesses to get support for a product or service
- 65% of people say they are more likely to shop with a business they can contact via a chat app
Facebook Messenger will help you attract more quality leads and loyal customers every day, engage with your customers 24/7 and build unshakable brand loyalty.
Here’s how Facebook Messenger can help you:
- Streamline your marketing, sales and operations goals so you spend more time making money and less time chasing money.
- Boost your bottom line with a breakthrough system that works to attract itching-to-buy leads.
- Wake up to more payment notifications with product queries, payment problems and cart abandonment handled 24/7.
- Reward your customers when they choose you over a competitor to encourage a legion of loyal buyers and increase customer retention.
Mistake #5: Not Investing in Quality Copywriting
People think that copywriting doesn’t matter. I’m here to tell you it does.
How do I know?
💌 One email strategy I created for SaaS platform ManyChat made USD $10,000 in 48 hours with $0 ad spend
⬆️ 44% increase in signups with my copywriting tactics for world-renowned dating expert Matthew Hussey
✍️ My email sequences for SaaS startup Foxley generated 250+ signups for an online masterclass
So first things first: make sure you get crystal-clear on your audience, and ensure your copywriting explains your services or products in detail.
Remember, people don’t buy products, they buy better versions of themselves. People also don’t buy features, they buy benefits.
Here are my favourite foolproof copywriting tips:
No.1: A clear benefit-driven headline.
This is something like “Trigger your prospect’s deepest desires and land more clients than you can imagine.”
This gives you a clear benefit:
- You’re gonna trigger your prospects’ deepest desires
- You’re gonna get more clients than you can ever imagine.
Boom! There it is. 💥
No.2: Use power or trigger words.
These are words like trigger, unlock, boost, guaranteed, authentic, private, behind the scenes, VIP, coveted…
…all of those good, juicy words that contribute to an emotional feeling that the reader will have.
You love them. ❤️
Make them your friend. 👭
Take them out on a date. 🌮 (TACOS!)
You know what I mean.
Be friendly with these power or trigger words.

No.3: Have a CTA button above the fold.
That’s a call-to-action button saying: buy now, download the free PDF, get the guide.
We don’t want any scrolling on your page.
Scrolling is bad.
Just remember that.
